“Stranger Things” actress Millie Bobby Brown is reportedly in final negotiations to play Olympic champion gymnast Kerri Strug in Gia Coppola’s new film “Perfect”.
Netflix is in talks to acquire the film, which Ronnie Sandahl is writing and which Brown is producing alongside Nik Bower and Thomas Benski. Filming aims to begin next spring.
Strug was a member of the 1996 USA gymnastics team dubbed ‘The Magnificent Seven’ and played a huge role in clinching the gold after performing the vault on a badly injured ankle.
She made her landing perfectly before her ankle gave out which led to her coach having to carry her off the mat.
Brown has had more success than many others in terms of picking her work outside of the major franchise that launched her. She’s steered two successful “Enola Holmes” films with a third already shot and on the way, appeared in two “Godzilla” films, and had a streaming hit with “Damsel”. Her only real misfire so far was the Russo brothers’ costly “The Electric State”.
Brown will shortly be filming the Netflix feature “Just Picture It” opposite Gabriel LaBelle and promoting the final season of “Stranger Things”.
