Paul Walter Hauser Joins New “Resident Evil”

Paramount Pictures

Paul Walter Hauser has joined the cast of “Weapons” and “Barbarian” director Zach Cregger’s new “Resident Evil” movie at Sony Pictures.

Hauser is coming off a busy summer with roles in both “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” as Mole Man and “The Naked Gun” as Lt. Drebin’s partner Ed.

Hauser will star alongside previously confirmed castmember Austin Abrams in the film which adapts the popular video game series.

As previously confirmed, this will not be a faithful adaptation of any game in the series – rather an original story set in the Resident Evil universe.

The story is expected to follow a hapless courier tasked with delivering a package to a remote hospital, only to be caught up in the middle of an outbreak

The film is expected to return to the horror roots of the game franchise and move away from the more action-centred approach of the six Milla Jovovich-led movies – films which grossed $1.28 billion worldwide.

Cregger co-writes the film with Shay Hatten and the film is set for a September 18th 2026 release.
