“Marvel’s Spider-Man” developers Insomniac Games are reportedly targeting a 2026 release for its long anticipated “Wolverine” game first announced this month five year ago.
That’s according to Mp1st who add that a spin-off game focused on Venom is planned to follow Wolverine’s release. Since the reveal cinematic, nothing from the “Wolverine” game has officially been released.
Unofficially a whole bunch of the game, from playable builds and cut scenes to hundreds of documents about the game did get out in a leak tied to a ransomware attack in late 2023.
However reports in the time since have indicated Insomniac has changed things up in the game since then. In addition their leaked roadmap, which was to release “Venom” first, is no longer the case with a Venom title not expected for at least another two years.
“Wolverine” is said to be an original, self-contained story that shares continuity with Insomniac Games’ other Marvel titles like the “Marvel’s Spider-Man” games.
Sony is releasing Sucker Punch Productions’ “Ghost of Yotei” shortly followed by HouseMarque’s “Saros,” Insomniac’s “Marvel’s Wolverine,” Naughty Dog’s “Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet,” Arc Systemworks’ “Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls,” and Santa Monica Studios’ “God of War” metroidvania title.
