Oscar-nominee Mary McDonnell is joining the cast of Marvel Studios’ Vision TV series.
The “Battlestar Galactica” and “Major Crimes” alum’s role has not been disclosed, but the series has already wrapped principal photography over the summer.
Terry Matalas serves as showrunner on the series which also stars Paul Bettany as android Vision and James Spader as Ultron.
McDonnell is also set to star in Scott Rogers’ thriller feature “One Second After” alongside Josh Holloway and Hannah John-Kamen and based on William R. Forstchen’s 2009 sci-fi novel of the same name.
McDonnell will portray Jen, the astute mother-in-law to John (Holloway) who looks after his daughters after an electromagnetic pulse attack throws society into chaos. J. Michael Straczynski pens the script and filming begins in Bulgaria this month.
McDonnell earned Oscar nominations for “Dances With Wolves” and “Passion Fish” and has memorable roles in films like “Sneakers,” “Independence Day” and “Donnie Darko”. She was recently seen in Mike Flanagan’s “The Fall of the House of Usher” series.
