Wayans Talks “Scary Movie 6” Spoof Targets

Miramax

As we know, a sixth film in the horror comedy spoof franchise “Scary Movie” is on the way, one that is also something of a legacy sequel from the team behind the first two films in the horror spoof series.

The Wayans Brothers (Marlon, Shawn, and Keenen) and Rick Alvarez are writing and producing the movie with original leading ladies Regina Hall and Anna Faris both returning as Brenda and Cindy respectively.

Whereas the five previous films all opened in the span of around thirteen years from 2000 to 2013, this one is coming a full thirteen years after the last – meaning there will be plenty of targets for the film to lampoon.

From the rise of ‘prestige horror’ to the works of the likes of Ari Aster, Ozgood Perkins and Jordan Peele, there is plenty of material to work with and Marlon Wayans tells ComicBook.com they’ve got plenty of targets alongside some of the classics:

“I’m just a fan of the whole genre, man. I Know What You Did Last Summer may have something in there. I think the Scream franchise is always a great one. I think Heretic was a wonderful film. Longlegs. Get Out. Nope. There are just so many great horror films to pull from that we plan on having a field day. Sinners.”

Marlon will shortly be seen in the Peele-produced sports horror film “Him” which releases in cinemas next Friday. “Scary Movie 6” opens in cinemas on June 12th 2026.
