Highlander
Chinese action star Max Zhang (“The Grandmaster,” “Master Z: The Ip Man Legacy”) is the latest to join the cast of Chad Stahelski’s “Highlander” reboot at Amazon MGM Studios and United Artists. Filming on that project is about to get underway.
Specifics of his role are under wraps. Zhang joins a cast that includes Henry Cavill, Russell Crowe, Marisa Abela, Karen Gillan, Djimon Hounsou, and Dave Bautista. Michael Finch penned the screenplay, based on the iconic 1980s cult classic. [Source: Deadline]
Avengers: Doomsday
Filmmakers Anthony and Joe Russo have shared a new cryptic photo from the set of “Avengers: Doomsday” as production continues on the next installment in the franchise. On Instagram, the pair posted a blurry close up photo of what appears to be Reed Richards’ blackboard with the phrase ‘#DoomsdayIsComing’ in the captions. Nothing further was revealed. Appearing on the red carpet at the Toronto International Film Festival while promoting his new movie “Motor City,” “Reacher” star Alan Ritchson told liamlovesmovies was asked whether he would return to the Aquaman role he played in “Smallville” in the new DC Universe.
Ritchson indicated he wouldn’t, but would be keen on a new character in the DCU: “I would never take that from [Jason Momoa]. I have too much respect…I would definitely want to explore new horizons, and I have a feeling we may. We’ll see.” Ritchson also played Hawk on “Titans”.
Tangled
Model and reality show star Gigi Hadid has confirmed she auditioned for Disney’s upcoming planned remake of 2010 fan-favorite Rapunzel movie “Tangled” and failed to get the role. At last report, Michael Gracey (“The Greatest Showman”) was slated to direct but the film was halted indefinitely in development following the failure of the live-action “Snow White”. [Source: Vogue]
