Warwick Davis Returns For “Harry Potter” Series

Warner Bros. Pictures

While the upcoming HBO “Harry Potter” TV series has new actors taking on the major roles, one minor character is set to be played by a familiar face.

Warwick Davis, who played Professor Filius Flitwick in the original “Harry Potter” film series, will reprise the role for the TV series.

The Charms professor is only a very minor character with minimal lines in the films. Davis marks the only actor (so far) to play the same role on the TV reboot as in the original films.

The news was announced at the annual Back to Hogwarts event today, which celebrates the franchise.

Seven other roles were also announced with Sirine Saba as Professor Sprout, Richard Durden as Professor Binns, Bríd Brennan as Madam Pomfrey, students: Elijah Oshin as Dean Thomas, Finn Stephens as Vincent Crabbe, William Nash as Gregory Goyle and Leigh Gill as Griphook.

The new series is currently in production and is expected to take a more expansive approach to author J.K. Rowling’s original book series. The series is being written and executive produced by Francesca Gardiner.
