FX has premiered the official trailer for “The Lowdown,” its upcoming Tulsa-based series starring Ethan Hawke and hailing from creator Sterlin Harjo.

The series follows the gritty exploits of citizen journalist Lee Raybon (Hawke), a self-proclaimed Tulsa ‘truthstorian’ who lives and works in a rare book store and whose obsession with the truth is always getting him into trouble.

His sleuthing pulls him deep into Tulsa’s underbelly and away from his precocious 14-year-old daughter Francis (Ryan Kiera Armstrong) who longs to join him on his adventures. His ex Samantha (Kaniehtiio Horn) is exasperated by Lee’s endless digging but still sees the good in him.

Lee’s newest expose, one about the powerful Washberg family, is published and soon after comes the suspicious suicide of the family’s black sheep Dale (Tim Blake Nelson).

Lee knows he’s onto something and follows a trail of breadcrumbs Dale has left behind, but forces want to prevent Lee from diving too deep.

Also starring are Jeanne Tripplehorn as Dale’s grieving widow, Kyle MacLachlan as Dale’s brother and candidate for Governor Donald, and Keith David as a refined and suave mysterious stranger who is unusually interested in his investigation into the Washberg family.

Hawke, Harjo, Garrett Basch and Ryan Hawke executive produce the series which premieres on FX on September 23rd. It will also screen internationally on the Disney+ service.
