Singalong “KPop” Version Hits Netflix Tonight

Following its two-day stint in cinemas, Netflix has confirmed it will release the sing-along version of its animated hit “KPop Demon Hunters” on the service globally from midnight US-PT tonight.

Netflix announced the news on social media using the caption: “FOR THE FANS!”

The film follows Rumi (Arden Cho), Mira (May Hong) and Zoey (Ji-young Yoo), three young-adult pop stars in a group called Huntr/x, who moonlight as demon hunters when they aren’t selling out stadiums and topping charts.

When their biggest demonic enemy (Lee Byung-hun) encourages the formation of an equally popular K-pop boy band aimed at stealing the souls of their fans, the trio has to fight harder than ever while keeping their friendship intact.

Since premiering on the service on June 20th, the Sony Pictures Animation film has dominated the Nielsen and Netflix streaming charts.

It’s already the streamer’s most-watched animated film in history, and looks set to become its most-watched film in history shortly.

The soundtrack has been a similar juggernaut, holding at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart and racking up more than 3 billion global streams to date.

Despite being limited to two days and only a relatively small wide release, the sing-along edition has reportedly pulled in an estimated $18 million at the U.S. box-office.
