The other day, frequent film scooper Jeff Sneider claimed to have a hot tip about Matt Reeves and Mattson Tomlin’s script for “The Batman Part II” which was completed back in June.
With production slated to begin in the Spring of next year, casting will soon begin and Sneider indicated it was a dark script that takes a big swing, and also will introduce a version of Robin.
Today, DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn has decided to debunk the rumour on social media, writing on Threads: “Guys, please stop believing this nonsense. I think six of us have read the script. No one knows anything about The Batman 2.”
Within minutes, Sneider responded to that with his own post saying that the wording of the statement is more a dismissal than an outright denial: “Sounds like another non-denial denial from Jimbo. Why not just say, ‘Robin isn’t in the script.’ Seems simple, right? I know why he isn’t saying that.”
Despite the response, the general consensus seems to be that Gunn’s right and there is no Robin in the script. Robert Pattinson, Jeffrey Wright, Andy Serkis and Colin Farrell are all expected back for the sequel.
“The Batman Part II” remains scheduled for release on October 1st 2027.
