Disney+ has cancelled its “Goosebumps” TV series, the horror anthology series will not return for a third season on the streamer.
The series debuted in October 2023 with a second season premiering this past January. The first season ran ten episodes and was released weekly, the second was eight episodes and was released all at once.
The two seasons reportedly pulled in 75 million hours viewed combined in the U.S., and 43 million hours viewed across sixteen international markets.
Series producer Sony Pictures Television now reportedly plans to shop the series to other outlets and “explore different creative directions for the IP”. The series is based on R.L. Stine’s best-selling book series.
The first season saw five high schoolers pulled into a dark mystery surrounding a teen who died decades earlier. The second season had a pair of fraternal twins moving in with their recently divorced botanist father when strange things start happening.
Justin Long, David Schwimmer, Rachael Harris, Ana Ortiz, Zack Morris, Isa Briones, Jayden Bartels, Sam McCarthy, Miles McKenna, Ana Yi Puig, Elijah M. Cooper, Francesca Noel, Will Price and Galilea La Salvia starred.
Neal H. Moritz, Pavun Shetty, Nicholas Stoller and Rob Letterman served as executive producers while Hilary Winston was showrunner.
