Less than two weeks after it was released, Netflix has renewed its Eric Bana-led National Parks-set mystery thriller series “Untamed” for a second season.
The show, set within Yosemite National Park, was originally announced as a limited series but has pulled in strong ratings and critical acclaim since its launch – leading to this quick renewal.
The character-driven six-episode series hails from writer Mark L. Smith (“American Primeval”) and his daughter Elle Smith (“The Marsh King’s Daughter”).
Bana stars Eric Inman, a special agent for the National Parks Service who works to enforce human law in nature’s vast wilderness.
The investigation of a brutal death in Yosemite National Park sends Inman on a collision course with the dark secrets within the park, and in his own past.
Sam Neill, Rosemarie DeWitt, Lily Santiago, Wilson Bethel, Raoul Max Trujillo, William Smillie, Joe Holt, and Josh Randall co-starred.
The first season topped the chart for the week of July 14th-20th with 24.6 million views, despite being only available for around half that week (it released July 17th).
The Smiths, Bana, John Wells, Erin Jontow, Todd Black, Tony Shaw, Steve Lee Jones and Cliff Roberts executive produce.
