Starz has released a new trailer for “Spartacus: House of Ashur,” the new series set within the “Spartacus” franchise, which helped establish the premium cabler’s original series efforts in the early 2010s.
The “history-bending, erotic, thrilling, roller-coaster experience” posits the idea that Nick Tarabay’s Ashur didn’t die on Mount Vesuvius at the end of “Spartacus: Vengeance”.
Instead, he has been gifted the gladiator school once owned by Batiatus in return for aiding the Romans in killing Spartacus and putting an end to the slave rebellion.
Also starring are Graham McTavish as the gladiator trainer, Tenika Davis as a female gladiator named Achillia driven to surpass her male counterparts, Jamaica Vaughan as a young female house slave named Hilara who is deeply in love with Ashur, while Ivana Baquero is a fellow female house slave in love with Hilara.
Claudia Black plays a scheming politician, India Shaw-Smith as her daughter, Jordi Webber as a brash gladiator, and Leigh Gill as the leader of gladiators from a rival house.
Showrunner Steven S. DeKnight returns to steer the ten-episode series, while Lucy Lawless will also reprise her original show role of Lucretia in a guest-starring role.
“Spartacus: House of Ashur” will release sometime this winter.
