Australia’s Emmy and BAFTA-winning Brisbane-based Ludo Studio, the company behind global sensation “Bluey,” is behind Netflix’s first locally-produced Australian feature film “Allen”.

Filming has officially begun on the live-action family film at the Screen Queensland Studios in Brisbane and on the Gold Coast.

The project hails from “Apple Cider Vinegar” creator Daley Pearson who co-directs with Jeffrey Walker (“The Artful Dodger”).

The pair directs from a script by Pearson and Sophie Miller, who collaborated on Ludo’s recent crime drama series “Thou Shalt Not Steal”.

Set against Queensland’s coastal backdrop, the film explores themes of childhood friendship and nostalgia. Pearson says in a statement:

“We’re creating ‘Allen’ for families to watch together. [It’s] a story about love, family, and all those big and small moments from childhood that end up shaping who we are when we grow up.”

Daley Pearson and Charlie Aspinwall executive produce while Sam Moor and Ross Allsop produce, with Lauren Brown co-producing.
