Lionsgate has premiered the new full-length trailer for Aziz Ansari’s new comedy feature “Good Fortune”, which stars Keanu Reeves, Seth Rogen, Ansari, Keke Palmer and Sandra Oh.
In the story, a well-meaning but rather inept angel named Gabriel (Reeves) seeks to stretch beyond his current duties, which mostly consist of saving people from texting and driving.
One day, he meddles in the lives of a struggling Los Angeles gig worker named Arj (Ansari) and his occasional client – a wealthy venture capitalist named Jeff (Rogen).
Gabriel tries to convince Arj that being wealthy like Jeff would not solve his problems by swapping the two men’s lives.
Failing at this demonstration as Arj’s problems are solved by Jeff’s wealth, Gabriel loses his wings and is sent down to Earth to live among humans, while Arj takes over Jeff’s body and livelihood.
Gabriel then becomes roommates with the displaced Jeff as the work he did as an angel begins to unravel around them. Oh plays a fellow angel and Gabriel’s supervisor.
“Master of None” star Ansari writes and directs the feature, which was shot on location back in 2023. Ansari, Anthony Katagas, and Alan Yang all produce.
The film is slated to premiere at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival in September ahead of a theatrical release on October 17th.
