Pratt Returns For “The Garfield Movie 2”

Sony Pictures

Sony Pictures is officially moving forward with “The Garfield Movie 2,” a sequel to last year’s CG animated feature based on the famed comic strip.

Chris Pratt, who provided the voice of Garfield, is set to return for the role in the sequel. It’s unclear if any other first film voice cast like Samuel L. Jackson, Hannah Waddingham, Ving Rhames, Nicholas Hoult, Brett Goldstein or Bowen Yang will return.

Alcon Entertainment is once again producing the project, following the success of the first film which grossed $234.7 million worldwide.

Alcon co-founders Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson announced the film’s development and Pratt’s return in a statement, also confirming the “Guardians of the Galaxy” star will have a producing credit.

The sequel will be co-produced by Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios, with DNEG Animation returning. As the project is still in early development, discussions are only now underway with writer and directors. Further cast will be announced at a later date.
