Australian actor Jacob Elordi (“Euphoria,” “Saltburn”) and British actors Tom Holland (“Spider-Man Homecoming,” “Uncharted”) and Harris Dickinson (“Babygirl,” “The King’s Man”) are reportedly at the top of the list of James Bond candidates at Amazon MGM Studios.
A new report at Variety has revealed some more details about the new film following filmmaker Denis Villeneuve’s deal being set to direct the next feature in the 007 franchise.
The outlet adds that Villeneuve has a one-off deal on Bond and so is not locked in for a sequel. More surprisingly, he doesn’t have the final cut.
As previously reported, the next step is to attach a writer and then an actor with shortlists for both reportedly having been done.
Whereas prior producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson were looking at actors in their early 30s, insiders tell the outlet the studio and new producers are going younger – seeking a “British [or Commonwealth] actor under the age of 30”.
That rules out a ton of potential candidates mentioned in recent years including Aaron Taylor Johnson, Tom Hardy, Henry Cavill, Idris Elba, etc.
Amazon is said to be looking at a 2028 release date for the film given scheduling issues and the scale of the production.
