A sequel to 2024’s Jason Statham vs. Phishers action thriller “The Beekeeper” is in the works with Miramax set to produce and finance.
The first film saw Statham playing a retired intelligence operative who suffers a personal tragedy due to his friend and former caretaker ending her life after falling for a phishing scam. He intends to make those responsible pay.
Emmy Raver-Lampman, Minnie Driver, Josh Hutcherson and Jeremy Irons also starred. The film not only grossed an impressive $153 million at the global box office, it also pulled in generally positive reviews.
Timo Tjahjanto, who recently directed another action sequel with “Nobody 2,” is taking over as director here – replacing David Ayer who helmed the first. The first film’s screenwriter Kurt Wimmer is also back.
Miramax set to produce and finance the project with shooting to begin in the Fall. Statham will produce through his Punch Palace Productions and Long Shot Productions.
