Netflix Planning “Crown”-Esque JFK Series

Netflix is reportedly developing a limited series based on the life of U.S. President John F. Kennedy as documented in the critically acclaimed 2020 book “JFK: Coming Of Age In The American Century, 1917-1956” by Fredrik Logevall.

That book is the first of a planned two-volume biography of Kennedy with the first part examining his life from his birth up to his time as the junior U.S. Senators from Massachusetts and his unsuccessful Vice-Presidential run in 1956.

Along the way he acquired a great deal of his knowledge of international relations in his early years. The second part will likely deal with his pursuit and winning of the U.S. Presidency along with well-known events like the Cuban Missile Crisis and his assassination in 1963.

Netflix is reportedly eyeing this as its potential American equivalent of “The Crown,” but whether it will follow that show’s approach of changing the actors every few seasons is unclear.

Eric Roth (“Forrest Gump,” “Munich,” “Killers of the Flower Moon”) is attached to write and executive produce the project.

Peter Chernin and Jenno Topping will also executive produce for Chernin Entertainment (“P-Valley,” “Chief of War,” “Luther: The Fallen Sun”) and a showrunner is now being sought.
