Kevin Afghani has been announced as the voice of Mario and Luigi in the upcoming “Super Mario Bros. Wonder” video game which will become available on Nintendo Switch on October 20th.

Los Angeles-based Afghani replaces longtime Nintendo voice actor Charles Martinet who started at Nintendo in 1991 and announced his retirement from voicing the red-capped plumber character last month.

Martinet will transition to the role of Mario Ambassador. Nintendo has not indicated whether Afghani would be voicing Mario and Luigi in future titles beyond this month’s release.

Afghani previously played Raditz in “Dragon Ball R&R” and Arnold in “Genshin Impact”. In a posting on social media, he says:

“Incredibly proud to have voiced Mario and Luigi in Super Mario Bros. Wonder. Thanks to Nintendo for inviting me into the Flower Kingdom!”

Nintendo has multiple Mario titles coming to the Switch soon including “Princess Peach Showtime!” and a remade “Super Mario RPG”.
