AMC has made it official, Melissa McBride will return as her fan favorite character of Carol Peletier from “The Walking Dead” for the upcoming second season of the “Daryl Dixon” spin-off.
As a result, the series will score a new name with arguably one of the longest titles for a scripted drama series in TV history. It will now be called “The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon – The Book of Carol”.
McBride’s role will be as a regular in the new run, suggesting she’ll be involved in most if not all the run. The announcement was made as part of AMC’s presentation at New York Comic Con.
Her return was hardly a secret as the actress was spotted months ago, prior to the SAG-AFTRA strike, filming scenes for the second season which is slated to debut in 2024.
McBride and Reedus’ characters and their rather complex and deep relationship has long been considered one of the original show’s biggest strengths.
The news comes ahead of the first season finale of “The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon” which is set to air October 15th on AMC and AMC+ with McBride reportedly set to appear in the episode.
The Rick & Michonne spin-off “The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live” has set a launch in February 2024 whilst the other recent spin-off “Dead City” has been renewed for a second season.
