Cate Blanchett will team with famed arthouse director Guy Maddin for his latest movie “Rumors” which begins filming October 9th in the UK.
Maddin’s latest film has reportedly signed an interim agreement with SAG-AFTRA which allows Blanchett to appear in the project without breaching Hollywood actor strike restrictions.
The indie title has been written and will be directed by Maddin alongside longtime collaborators Evan Johnson and Galen Johnson with whom he last worked on “The Green Fog”.
Plot specifics for the title are under wraps, as are any further details regarding the film’s cast or crew. Blanchett marks the biggest acting name Maddin has ever landed for his projects.
“Rumors” is said to be a Canada-German co-production which is being produced by Buffalo Gal Pictures, Walking Down Broadway Ltd. and Thin Stuff Productions.
Maddin previously directed films like “My Winnipeg,” “The Saddest Music in the World” and “Twilight of the Ice Nymphs”.
