Insomniac Games and PlayStation have released another promo trailer for the upcoming PS5-exclusive “Marvel’s Spider-Man 2” game due out in stores on October 20th.
This one puts the focus on a battle the two Spider-Men, Peter Parker and Miles Morales, have with Venom in the streets of New York whilst also dealing with the weight of their responsibilities as protectors of the city.
In the new game, Peter’s best friend Harry Osborne returns to his life and Miles looks to build his future beyond high school. The relationship between our heroes is tested and strained as the Symbiote appears to threaten them, the city, and the ones they love.
Whilst the game’s map is twice the size of the one in the original game, PlayStation Lifestyle is reporting that the game’s length is very comparable to the first as a user who obtained an early copy was reportedly able to unlock the 100% Platinum trophy after 30 hours of play.
That’s in line with the first “Spider-Man” which took them around 25-30 hours to reach platinum. It matches earlier reports that the game’s campaign length was on par with the first one too and on par with other titles like “Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End” and “Star Wars Jedi – Fallen Order”.
It does mark a change after a year full of massive RPG titles that demand a massive chunk of player’s time like “Baldur’s Gate 3” and “The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom” – both clocking in at 50-60 hours main campaign lengths and completionist times at around 140-240 hours each.
Even the recent “Starfield” comes in at around 30-40 hours for the campaign and 150 hours for completionists. As a result, there are social media arguments right now on boards for the game. On the one hand you have those who equate game length with value and want more for their money, and on the other those tired of bloated games with endless fetch quests who’re happy with something more streamlined – so long as it’s good.
Reviews for the title aren’t expected until the week of release.
