First Trailer: John Woo’s “Silent Night”

Lionsgate

Two decades after “Paycheck,” filmmaker John Woo (“Face/Off,” “Broken Arrow”) returns to American features with the Joel Kinnaman-led “Silent Night”. The first trailer for the film has now gone online.

The gritty revenge tale follows a tormented father, Godlock (Kinnaman), who witnesses his young son die when caught in a gang’s crossfire on Christmas Eve.

While recovering from a wound that costs him his voice, he makes vengeance his life’s mission and embarks on a punishing training regimen in order to avenge his son’s death.

Kid Cudi, Harold Torres and Catalina Sandino Moreno also star in the film, which was shot in Mexico City and famously features no dialogue.

Woo has previously said the movie uses “music instead of language” as part of its visual storytelling. It’s also on a tighter budget than he normally has for American features.

Robert Archer Lynn penned the script, while Erica Lee, Basil Iwanyk, Lori Tilkin, and Christian Mercuri produce. Lionsgate will release the film in cinemas on December 1st.
