Gunn Offers “Peacemaker” Season 2 Update

Max

DC Studios co-CEO and filmmaker James Gunn has offered a brief update on the status of his Max series “Peacemaker” starring John Cena.

At last report back in June, Gunn confirmed the second season of the acclaimed series would be his “next thing” after he finishes “Superman: Legacy”. At the time, he said: “No, ‘Peacemaker’’s coming back right after ‘Superman.’ That’s my next thing.”

Since then, the writer’s strike has prevented any further development there. As that strike has ended, Gunn has taken to Instagram today and confirmed he’s “writing it now” in response to a fan asking for a second season.

Gunn will next be filming “Superman: Legacy” starting in early 2024. It’s expected with “Peacemaker” he will probably follow a similar pattern to what he did with the first season.

In that instance, he directed his movie (“The Suicide Squad”) then segued into filming the TV series during the movie’s post-production phase.

“Superman: Legacy” opens on July 11th 2025, no word on when “Peacemaker” could make a comeback to screens but if it follows the pattern it’ll either be very late 2025 or early 2026.
