Legendary Pictures has released a red-band trailer for Macon Blair’s remake of horror-comedy “The Toxic Avenger” starring Peter Dinklage, Elijah Wood, Jacob Tremblay, Taylour Paige, Julia Davis and Kevin Bacon.
In the film, a remake of the iconic Troma Entertainment 1984 title of the same name, Dinklage plays Winston Gooze, a janitor whose employer refuses to cover treatment for his terminal illness.
After robbing the company, Winston falls into toxic waste and aims to right society’s wrongs as the Toxic Avenger. The film premiered earlier this month at the Fantastic Fest in Austin to rave reviews and a 92% score on Rotten Tomatoes.
In the brief but extreme clip, a group of armed extremists take hostages at a Miss Meat lunchatorium and begins with a whole bunch of old 1980s-style news updates before switching over to a more regular-looking movie with Dinklage’s character glimpsed only in silhouette.
That’s followed by him proceeding to take out the group with some rather extreme actions. Alex Garcia, Michael Herz, Lloyd Kaufman and Mary Parent are producers.
“The Toxic Avenger” hasn’t set a release date as yet. Head over to Legendary’s YouTube page for the clip.
