Sony Pictures has premiered the official trailer for Gabe Polsky’s gritty western “Butcher’s Crossing” based on John Williams’ 1960 novel and starring Oscar winner Nicolas Cage.
The story is a tale of buffalo hunters in the Old West. Will Andrews (Fred Hechinger) is a naive Harvard student who heads west in 1874 to fulfil his dream of seeing the country and living off the land.
He agrees to fund a dangerous but potentially lucrative expedition to Colorado led by Miller (Cage), a mysterious but experienced frontiersman obsessed with a near-mythological buffalo herd he once glimpsed in a secluded valley in the Rockies.
Their crew must survive an arduous journey where the harsh elements and Miller’s single-minded resolve to slaughter every buffalo in the enormous herd will test everyone’s resolve, leaving their sanity on a knife’s edge.
Xander Berkeley, Rachel Keller, with Jeremy Bobb and Paul Raci co-star in the film which boasts a screenplay by Gabe Polsky & Liam Satre Meloy. Polsky, Will Clarke, Andy Mayson, Molly Conners are producing.
The film will be released in select movie theaters on October 20th.
