Nintendo says it has no plans to release any DLC for this year’s highly acclaimed Switch exclusive game “The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom” which hit stores in May.
In an interview with Famitsu (via IGN), game producer Eiji Aonuma effectively squashed any talk of additional content for the title.
Game director Hidemaro Fujibayashi agreed and added he was already thinking about what the ‘next fun experience’ for the Zelda series should be.
Aonuma also went on to tease early plans for the next ‘Zelda’, telling the outlets:
There are no plans to release additional content this time, but that’s because I feel like we’ve done everything we can to create fun in that world.
In the first place, the reason why we chose this time as a sequel to the previous game is because we thought there would be value in experiencing a new kind of play in that place in Hyrule. Then, if such a reason is newly born, it may return to the same world again.
Whether it’s a sequel or a new work, I think it will be a completely new way to play, so I’d be happy if you could look forward to it.”
‘Tears of the Kingdom’ has been both a critical and commercial success, selling 18.51 million units as of June 30th – more than half the total sales of its predecessor ‘Breath of the Wild’ (30.65 million units) in just six weeks.
