Lightning-Struck “Winchesters” Crewman Sues

The CW

Warner Brothers are reportedly being sued by a crewmember who was struck by lightning whilst working on the “Supernatural” spin-off series “The Winchesters,” according to THR.

The complaint, filed Thursday in Los Angeles Superior Court, accuses the production of negligence for violating rules pertaining to when a production must shut down if lightning strikes within a certain radius of the set.

The incident took place in Louisiana last year when filming was stalled by a heavy rainstorm. In the complaint, it indicates the crew was instructed to continue filming.

Ten minutes later, first assistant camera operator Bryan DeLorenzo says he was struck by lightning – knocking him unconscious and sending him to the emergency room.

If lightning strikes within a six-mile area of the film set, the production must immediately shut down and may not resume until at least a half-hour after the lightning has passed.

DeLorenzo reportedly claims compensatory and punitive damages for physical injuries, pain and emotional distress. Warners, The CW and executive producer Jensen Ackles are all cited in the complaint.
