Trailer: Helen Mirren In “Golda”

Bleecker Street

Bleecker Street has released the official trailer for “Golda,” Guy Nattiv’s biopic about former Israeli Prime Minister Golda Meir.

Helen Mirren takes on the role in the film which is dubbed a ticking-clock thriller as it deals with true events set during the tense 19 days of the Yom Kippur War in 1973.

With Israel facing potential destruction at the hands of an unexpected twin attack from the Arab powers of Syria and Egypt, Meir must navigate overwhelming odds, a sceptical cabinet, and a complex relationship with US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger (Liev Schreiber).

With millions of lives hanging in the balance, her tough leadership and compassion would ultimately decide the fate of her nation and leave her with a controversial legacy around the world.

Camille Cottin co-stars as Meir’s longtime aide Lou Kaddar. Rami Heuberger, Lior Ashkenazi, Ellie Piercy, Ed Stoppard, Rotem Keinan, Dvir Benedek, Dominic Mafham, Ben Caplan, Kit Rakusen and Emma Davies also star.

Nicholas Martin penned the script for the film whilst Michael Kuhn and Jane Hooks produce “Golda” which had its world premiere in Berlin and is set to hit cinemas on August 25th.
