“Star Wars Outlaws” Galaxy Building Clip

Lucasfilm

Ubisoft and Lucasfilm Games have released a behind-the-scenes video for the anticipated “Star Wars Outlaws” video game which hails from Ubisoft Massive.

The open-world game unfolds between the events of “The Empire Strikes Back” and “Return of the Jedi” and follows the story of Kay Vess, an emerging scoundrel in the galactic underworld.

Kay, accompanied by her companion Nix and a trench coat-wearing BX-commando droid, will attempt one of the biggest heists the Outer Rim has ever seen in an effort to start a new life.

All planets and locations are being ‘handcrafted’ here, no procedurally generated entire planets like some other titles. Associate art director Marthe Jonkers says:

“The most exciting thing is being able to go back to iconic locations that people know and love, but then diving into the Lucasfilm archives and really bringing them alive in a new but very genuine way.”

One new location is Toshara, which has “been built from the ground up with the scoundrel fantasy at its beating heart” says Lucasfilm’s Steve Blank.

“Star Wars Outlaws” will release in 2024 for Xbox Series X/S, PS5 and PC.
