Disney+ has premiered the first character posters for their fantasy series adaptation of Rick Riordan’s novel series “Percy Jackson and the Olympians”.
Walter Scobell stars as Percy Jackson alongside Leah Sava Jeffries as Annabeth Chase and Aryan Simhadri as Grover Underwood with all three characters getting their own posters.
The fantastical story follows twelve-year-old modern demigod, Percy Jackson, who’s just coming to terms with his newfound supernatural powers when the sky god Zeus accuses him of stealing his master lightning bolt.
Now Percy must trek across America to find it and restore order to Olympus. Also onboard are Dior Goodjohn as Clarisse La Rue, Charlie Bushnell as Luke Castellan, Virginia Kull as Sally Jackson, Glynn Turman as Chiron, Megan Mullally as Mr. Dodds, Olivia Morton as Nancy Bobofit, and Timm Sharp as Gabe Ugliano.
As the Gods there’s Jason Mantzoukas as Dionysus, former WWE superstar Adam Copeland as Ares, Jay Duplass as Hades, Lin-Manuel Miranda as Hermes, Timothy Omundson as Hephaestus, Toby Stephens as Poseidon, and the late Lance Reddick as Zeus.
Riordan and Jon Steinberg wrote the pilot, and James Bobin directs this adaptation which is expected to be more faithful to the source material than the previous 2010 & 2013 film adaptations.
Steinberg and Dan Shotz showrun and serve as executive producers alongside Bobin, Riordan, Rebecca Riordan, Bert Salke, Monica Owusu-Breen, Jim Rowe, Anders Engström, Jet Wilkinson, Ellen Goldsmith-Vein, Jeremy Bell and D.J. Goldberg.
