It was a big “Star Trek” day at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con. Following on from the “Strange New Worlds” announcements, further news from the two other “Star Trek” shows launching new seasons soon was revealed.
First up, the adult animated series “Star Trek: Lower Decks” has set its launch with the new run set to premiere with a double episode on Paramount+ on September 7th.
In addition, the trailer for the new season has been released along with a fourth season poster inspired by the poster for “Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home”.
The trailer indicates more DS9 crossovers on the way, including a visit to the Ferengi homeworld with Grand Nagus Rom and Leeta. There’s also a big ol’ reference to the first season DS9 episode “Move Along Home”.
The news comes as Tawny Newsome and Jack Quaid make their live-action debuts as their characters Beckett Mariner and Brad Boimler in “Star Trek: Strange New Worlds” in the second season’s seventh episode which has just gone live.
Meanwhile the fifth season of “Star Trek: Discovery” released a clip which includes the pursuit of two scavengers (Eve Harlow, Elias Toufexis). David Cronenberg’s Kovich and Callum Keith Rennie’s Captain Rayner are also seen in the five-minute clip which is up on Twitter.
This final season of the series premieres in early 2024 and has the Discovery crew seeking “an ancient power whose very existence has been deliberately hidden for centuries”.
