Though “Barbie” and “Oppenheimer” are drawing all the attention, this week saw the release of another film – the sci-fi blaxploitation satire “They Cloned Tyrone,” which premiered on Netflix today.
The film stars Jamie Foxx, John Boyega and Teyonah Paris as an unlikely trio uncovering a government cloning conspiracy. The film has scored rave reviews so far with a 93% (7.5/10) on Rotten Tomatoes.
Foxx has been dealing with medical issues for the past few months that have impacted his life and work commitments, meaning Boyega has been doing press for the film solo in the weeks leading up to the strike.
In a recently published video for First We Feast’s Truth or Dab Rapid Fire video series, the actor was asked questions about various topics and one question that came up asked him to rank all three “Star Wars” sequel trilogy instalments he was in from his most to his least favourite. His answer:
“Star Wars: The Force Awakens is most definitely the best. Second, for me, comes [Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker], and then the worst — in the most respectful sense — is Episode VIII [The Last Jedi].”
He quickly added he thought the films were all “lovely” before adding an amused look. Understandably the comments have dredged up old arguments about the sequel trilogy and the contentious “The Last Jedi” in particular.
The comments also follow on from a recent feature piece with the actor talking about how he’s come to terms with the franchise and its impact on his life and how he’s open to “all opportunities” – seemingly leaving the door open to further appearances as Finn.
