“Dead City” Star Teases A Second Season

AMC

AMC kicked off its wave of three new “The Walking Dead” spin-off series with the arrival of the first, “Dead City,” on the AMC+ streaming service and the AMC network earlier this month.

The result was the biggest premiere of any television season on said service since it launched in 2020, even beating out the final run of its predecessor.

The new series follows the tense relationship between Maggie (Lauren Cohan) and Negan (Jeffery Dean Morgan) in a post-apocalyptic Manhattan long ago cut off from the mainland.

The pair are forced to work together yet again in this crumbling city filled with the dead and denizens who have made New York their own world.

The limited series introduces several new characters, including Nina (Pallavi Sastry), a member of Maggie’s new community. Speaking with Screen Rant recently, Sastry shared thoughts about a potential second season:

“I’m trying to figure out how to say this. I think it’s okay to say that [it’s fun] when you’re part of one of the last episodes when you’re in a show towards the end, and then you sort of feel like, ‘Oh, I feel like I see where this is going’ [and] ‘I feel like there is more.’ There’s definitely more.”

Asked to clarify if she meant beyond the current season, she said:

“I think so. I feel that way, and the ratings are good. The ratings are looking good, and the reviews are looking good, so I think all of us are pretty hopeful.”

The new series is only six episodes long and was seemingly designed as a limited series. We’ll have to wait and see whether the narrative is built to handle a potential further season.
