“King of the Hill” creators Mike Judge and Greg Daniels are set to bring “Common Side Effects,” their next half-hour adult animated series, to Adult Swim.
The pair’s Bandera Entertainment are behind the series created by Joe Bennett and Steve Hely, which was announced Friday at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival.
Michael Ouweleen, president of Adult Swim, Cartoon Network and Boomerang said in a statement: “Tonally, this is like nothing else in animation right now” and strongly stresses how this is a real original that “will tackle everything from government corruption to the pharmaceutical industry” through Judge and Daniels’ unique perspective.
The series will center on Marshall and Frances, former high school lab partners who begin to unravel a conspiracy involving big pharma and the federal government to suppress knowledge of a rare mushroom that is key to curing all the world’s diseases.
Bandera has multiple projects in the works, including a “King of the Hill” revival at Hulu, Freeform’s “Praise Petey”, Netflix’s “Bad Crimes”, and projects from Sacha Baron Cohen, Zach Woods and Jimmy O. Yang.
Judge and Daniels will executive produce alongside Dustin Davis.
