Warner Bros. Entertainment

Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has released the first trailer for the direct-to-video animated feature “Babylon 5: The Road Home,” which marks the long-awaited return of the franchise.

Series creator J. Michael Straczynski unveiled the trailer today that offers glimpses of some familiar faces and voices with Bruce Boxleitner, Claudia Christian, Peter Jurasik, Bill Mumy, Tracy Scoggins and Patricia Tallman reprising their roles from the original series.

In the film we travel across the galaxy with John Sheridan as he unexpectedly finds himself transported through multiple timelines and alternate realities in a quest to find his way back home.

Along the way, he reunites with some familiar faces while discovering new cosmic revelations about the history, purpose, and meaning of the Universe.

The cast is joined by new additions Paul Guyet, Anthony Hansen, Phil LaMarr, Andrew Morgado, Rebecca Riedy, Piotr Michael and Mara Junot. Sadly former regulars Michael O’Hare (Sinclair), Mira Furlan (Delenn), Andreas Katsulas (G’Kar) and Jerry Doyle (Garibaldi) have all passed away in the years since.

The original series debuted in syndication in 1994 and grew a devoted cult audience over five seasons as it told a series-long serialised story of a war with an ancient alien race known as the Shadows.

“Babylon 5: The Road Home” was written by Straczynski, and directed by WB Animation veteran Matt Peters. It will arrive on Blu-ray on August 15th.
