“Rick and Morty” Are Recasting Roiland Roles

Adult Swim

The seventh season of popular Adult Swim animated series “Rick and Morty” is in the works and the team has offered an update on the show’s progress following the exit of co-creator Justin Roiland.

Roiland was famously fired from the series after the show’s sixth season following allegations and prior charges for domestic abuse.

Adult Swim then issued a statement confirming they were ending their association with Roiland, but were moving forward with the in production seventh season.

Appearing at the Annecy International Festival today, co-executive producer Steve Levy and Cartoon Network President Michael Ouweleen reportedly confirmed to Premiere France (via Comic Book.com) that they are currently in recasting each of Justin Roiland’s roles in the series.

No voice actor has been chosen just yet, but they draw a comparison to how other actors have taken on the role of Bugs Bunny over the years.

The series reportedly has been teased for a planned release some time this September, which would fall in line with the scheduled yearly launch of the new seasons in recent years. Production is continuing with the first conversations about the show’s tenth season already having taken place.

There is also a new “Rick and Morty: The Anime” series now in the works slated for a premiere on Max this Fall.
