Burgess Joins Skydance’s “Spellbound” Film

Six-time Emmy nominee Tituss Burgess (“Schmigadoon,” “Central Park”) has joined the voice cast of Skydance Animation’s animated musical fairytale feature “Spellbound” at Apple Original Films.

Burgess joins a voice cast that includes Rachel Ziegler, John Lithgow, Jennifer Lewis, Nathan Lane, Nicole Kidman and Javier Bardem.

The addition was announced ahead of a work-in-progress presentation of the film tomorrow at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival.

The story centers on a terrible spell that has turned a king and queen into monsters, leaving their daughter, Princess Ellian (Ziegler), to manage the kingdom on her own.

The film features an original score and songs by veteran composer Alan Menken (“The Little Mermaid,” “Aladdin”) with lyrics by Glenn Slater (“Tangled”).

The film’s director Vicky Jenson and head of story Brian Pimenthal will be on hand at the presentation of the film which was penned by Lauren Hynek, Elizabeth Martin and Linda Woolverton.

John Lasseter, David Ellison, Dana Goldberg and Bruce Anderson are producing for Skydance Animation. The studio has also released a new image from the film, which you can see above. “Spellbound” is due out in cinemas in 2024.
