“Superman: Legacy” Finalists Revealed

Hulu, Netflix, PBS

After months of auditions, it appears Warner Bros. Pictures and DC Films have settled on the finalists for their “Superman: Legacy” movie with a second round of testing to be imminent.

According to sources for Deadline, the first in-person tests with DC chiefs Peter Safran and James Gunn will take place around Father’s Day weekend or the Monday or Tuesday.

Three are up for Clark Kent/Superman – Nicholas Hoult (“Mad Max: Fury Road”), David Corenswet (“Hollywood”) and Tom Brittney (“Grantchester”).

Three are also up for Lois Lane – Emma Mackey (“Sex Education”), Rachel Brosnahan (“The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel”) and Phoebe Dynevor (“Bridgerton”).

All of these actors have been rumored in the past few months. Some of the test deals are still being negotiated and haven’t all closed, but these are the names expected to participate in the auditions.

The roles of Lex Luthor and Jimmy Olsen won’t be cast until after decisions are made on Superman and Lois.

Gunn, who is also writing and directing the new movie, was reportedly very thorough and watched each audition tape with those names rising to the top as the shortlist was created.

“Superman: Legacy” is due out in cinemas in 2025.
