Where To See “Oppenheimer” In IMAX 70mm

Warner Bros. Pictures

Christopher Nolan’s “Oppenheimer” is opening everywhere on Friday July 21st and will be available in more formats than you can shake a stick at.

Nolan shot the entire movie using IMAX 65mm format film camera with the movie set to be released on IMAX 70mm, regular 70mm, IMAX digital, 35mm, Dolby Cinema and more.

Of those, there’s no question – the best format to see the film in is IMAX 70mm which plays at only a few locations around the globe.

Now, the official IMAX site has created a list of the 30 locations worldwide that will play “Oppenheimer” in that ‘best of the best’ format – full-frame IMAX 15 perf 70mm film which Nolan dubs “the highest quality imaging format that’s ever been devised”.

Most of the locations are in North America, but cinemas in both London and Manchester in the United Kingdom; Melbourne, Australia and Prague, Czech Republic will also present the film in that format.

The list of sites can be found at IMAX.com.

Nolan’s story is based on Kai Bird and Martin Sherwin’s Pulitzer Prize-winning biography “American Prometheus” with both authors credited as writers along with Nolan himself.

Cillian Murphy plays J. Robert Oppenheimer, the American physicist who was dubbed the ‘father of the atomic bomb’ and an enigmatic man who must risk destroying the world in order to save it.

“Oppenheimer” opens in cinemas everywhere on July 21st.
