Filming has officially wrapped in the Czech Republic on “The Lighthouse,” “The Northman,” and “The Witch” director Robert Eggers’ “Nosferatu” remake.
Bill Skarsgard, Lily-Rose Depp, Nicolas Hoult, Willem Dafoe, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Emma Corrin, Ralph Ineson and Simon McBurney star in the film, which quietly wrapped at Barrandov Studio in Prague on May 19th following a three-month shoot.
According to The Prague Reporter (via Collider, local crew members say they considered the production a “complex and unconventional shoot” but were “proud to be part of” it.
Production briefly took place at Prague’s historic Invalidovna complex, which boasts an 18th-century Baroque design and has served as a military hospital for two centuries.
Whilst F.W. Murnau’s legendary original 1922 feature was shot in black-and-white with a German Expressionism cinematic style, this is being done in color and will reportedly boast an artistic style more akin to 19th century Romanticism.
The story is dubbed a gothic tale of obsession between a haunted young woman in 19th-century Germany and the ancient Transylvanian vampire who stalks her, bringing untold horror with him.
Focus Features will release the film sometime in 2024.
