Actress Elizabeth Olsen has confirmed that Daniel Craig was supposed to appear as Balder the Brave alongside her Scarlet Witch character in last year’s Marvel Studios feature “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness”.
In a recent interview with Josh Horowitz on his Happy, Sad, Confused podcast, he mentioned her working with John Krasinski as Reed Richards/Captain Fantastic on the film. Olsen confirmed she had never actually worked with Krasinski on the film as his scenes were shot separately to hers.
Horowitz then revealed he had asked Craig if the Bond actor had been supposed to appear in the film as Balder, Thor’s half-brother in the comics, as had been rumored. At the time, Craig didn’t say anything.
Olsen, who has openly discussed the film’s writing and handling of her character in recent weeks, had no hesitancy about discussing Craig’s scrapped involvement, saying: “Yes, that’s what I thought was going to happen too. I saw the art. They made a costume. They had a design.”
Her comments join that of the film’s costume designer Graham Churchyard who told ComicBook.com they “got very far designing Balder the Brave,” right up to the “prototype stage” before it was nixed.
Olsen is rumored to reprise her Wanda role for the currently in-production Disney+ series “Agatha: Coven of Chaos”.
