Rudolph Is Kitana In “Mortal Kombat 2”

The CW

Adeline Rudolph is set to join her “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina” co-star Tati Gabrielle in the spine-yanking “Mortal Kombat” sequel at New Line Cinema and Warner Bros. Pictures.

Jeremy Slater pens the follow-up to 2021’s film adaptation of the video game series. It continues the story of a group of ragtag fighters, versed in the ways of martial arts, who defend our reality of ‘Earthrealm’ against the forces of ‘Outworld’ in a fighting tournament.

Rudolph will play Kitana who, armed with her steel fans, was first introduced in “Mortal Kombat II” and has become one of the video game franchise’s signature characters.

In the games, Kitana has a close bond with Jade (Gabrielle). Rudolph and Gabrielle played two of the three Weird Sisters in Netflix’s ‘Sabrina’ series. She joins Karl Urban hopping onboard the series as Johnny Cage.

Various cast from the first film are expected back, but it’s not clear yet which ones are confirmed beyond Jessica McNamee as Sonya. Potential returnees include Josh Lawson as Kano, Hiroyuki Sanada as Scorpion, Joe Taslim as Sub-Zero, Ludi Lin as Liu Kang, Max Huang as Kung Lao, Chin Han as Shang Tsung, Tadanobu Asano as Lord Raiden, Mehcad Brooks as Jax and Lewis Tan as Cole Young.

Rudolph also worked on The CW’s “Riverdale” and Netflix’s “Resident Evil” series and has recently been playing the female lead in Brian Taylor’s “Hellboy: The Crooked Man” film.

Shooting for the “Mortal Kombat” sequel will take place at the Village Roadshow Studios complex on the Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia.
