Sony held its hour-long game PlayStation Showcase earlier today, focusing on upcoming titles for the PlayStation 5 and PlayStation VR 2 systems.
The biggest news we’ve already covered in other articles – the “Spider-Man 2” extended gameplay, the “Metal Gear Solid 3” remake announcement, and the “Alan Wake II” and “Assassin’s Creed Mirage” date announcements and gameplay footage.
In terms of the Sony exclusives, the big titles outside “Spider-Man 2” shown off were “Revenant Hill,” “Concord,” “Fairgame$,” “Helldivers 2,” “Phantom Blade 0,” Towers of Aghasba,” “Sword of the Sea,” “Foamstars, and a launch trailer for “Final Fantasy XVI”.
Other titles hail from third-party and indie game developers, including some high-profile sequels to “Dragon’s Dogma,” “Ghostrunner” and “The Talos Principle”. There were also VR titles with “Beat Saber” coming to the platform this week, the “Resident Evil 4” remake VR mode on the way and more.
One of the surprise reveals was that of Project Q, a handheld cloud gaming device with an 8-inch screen allowing players to portably stream their PlayStation library to a 1080p mobile screen (with full DualSense controller in-built) over a shared Wi-Fi network. Games must be already installed on the paired PS5 to work.
There’s also PS5 earbuds, which will ‘bring next-generation audio immersion’ and lossless audio when playing PS5 and PC games. More information about both devices is expected later this year.
