In an unexpected move, Warner Bros. Pictures has allowed the director of the upcoming “The Flash” film, Andy Muschietti, to sit down with Variety and discuss a key cameo in the feature.
The news today joins other recent Warners and DC titles like Henry Cavill’s Superman cameo in “Black Adam” and Gal Gadot’s cameo in “Shazam: Fury of the Gods” as appearances deliberately spoiled by the marketing prior to release.
MAJOR SPOILER WARNING FOR “THE FLASH” FILM
Whilst the film sees Michael Keaton return as Bruce Wayne/Batman, which he played in 1989 and 1992, the film also includes a much briefer cameo from Nicolas Cage as Superman.
Muschietti says: “Although the role was a cameo, [Cage] dove into it. I dreamt all my life to work with him. I hope I can work with him again soon. He is a massive Superman fan. A comic book fanatic.”
No details have been released about how Cage’s Superman appears, but it is said to be just one of many big DC moments in the film. Cage famously almost played the character in Tim Burton’s failed 1990s Superman movie – going so far as to be photographed in costume.
It’s also not clear as to why Warners opted to allow this information to be released. “The Flash” will open in cinemas on June 16th.
