After fourteen seasons, “NCIS: Los Angeles” ended on Sunday with an epilogue that saw Sam (LL Cool J) and Callen (Chris O’Donnell) meeting up with a few familiar faces on a mission in Morocco to find Hetty (Linda Hunt).
Then, last night, LL Cool J’s Sam made a surprise cameo appearance as his Special Agent Sam Hanna character on the second season finale of “NCIS: Hawai’i”. In the episode, he assists Jane Tennant (Vanessa Lachey) and Kate Whistler (Tori Anderson) in Venezuela in events taking place after the “NCIS: Los Angeles” finale and that mission in Morocco.
The appearance comes ahead of the actor joining the show as a recurring guest star role throughout the upcoming third season of “NCIS: Hawai’i” launching in the Fall.
LL has been a staple of the franchise, first appearing in a 2009 two-parter of the main “NCIS” series before taking on the series co-lead role in “NCIS: Los Angeles” across fourteen seasons and popping up in guest spots in the role both in the “NCIS” mothership series again, and in “Hawaii Five-O”.
Executive producers Matt Bosack, Jan Nash and Christopher Silber said in a statement:
“All of us at ‘NCIS: Hawai’i’ have been huge fans of LL Cool J for years and couldn’t be more thrilled or honored to be adding his spectacular talent to our ohana for season three.”
Alex Tarrant, Noah Mills, Yasmine Al-Bustami, and Jason Antoon also star in “NCIS: Hawai’i” which is produced by CBS Studios. The show’s third season will join the main series 21st season in the Fall along with the currently filming “NCIS: Sydney” which will be a Paramount+ exclusive.
