Warner Bros. Pictures has released the official trailer for “Meg 2: The Trench,” the sequel to the 2018 blockbuster starring Jason Statham taking on a giant prehistoric shark.
Boasting multiple massive Megs, the new film sees Statham and action star Wu Jing lead a daring research team on an exploratory dive into the deepest depths of the ocean.
Their voyage spirals into chaos when a malevolent mining operation threatens their mission and forces them into a high-stakes battle for survival.
Pitted against colossal Megs and relentless environmental plunderers, our heroes must outrun, outsmart, and outswim their merciless predators in a pulse-pounding race against time.
The ensemble cast includes first-film returnees Sophia Cai, Page Kennedy and Cliff Curtis along with Sergio Peris-Mencheta and Skyler Samuels.
Ben Wheatley (“High Rise,” “Free Fire”) directs from a screenplay by returning writers Dean Georgaris, Jon Hoeber & Erich Hoeber.
“Meg 2: The Trench” will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures and is set to open in theaters in North America on August 4th with the international rollout beginning August 2nd.
