A new trailer has been released by 20th Century Studios for their remake of the iconic 1992 sports comedy “White Men Can’t Jump”.
Sinqua Walls (“Friday Night Lights”) and Grammy-nominated rapper Jack Harlow take on the roles made famous by Wesley Snipes and Woody Harrelson in the original.
That film followed a pair of street basketball hustlers who begin at odds with each other and then team up for a bigger game. The title refers to how Harrelson’s character, a former pro basketball player, is able to con money off people who challenge him as they assume he can’t play well since he is white.
The remake is following a similar pattern and will premiere directly on Hulu with no plans for a theatrical release. Lance Reddick, Teyana Taylor, Laura Harrier, and Vince Staples co-star.
“House Party” remake director Calmatic (aka Charles Kidd II), who rose to fame directing Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road” music video and has won awards for his work, helms the project, which was penned by “Black-ish” creator Kenya Barris and Doug Hall.
Barris produces, whilst Blake Griffin, Ryan Kalil, and Noah Weinstein executive produce.
