AMC Plans Anne Rice Talamasca Series

AMC

AMC has begun the development of a third series set in what they have dubbed the Anne Rice Immortal Universe. The announcement was made as part of the AMC Networks upfront presentation in New York today.

Following the acclaimed “Interview with the Vampire” and the popular “Mayfair Witches,” the new series will focus on the Talamasca. John Lee Hancock (“The Blind Side,” “The Alamo”) will serve as writer and showrunner.

The Talamasca is a secretive organization featured in a number of Rice’s iconic novels devoted to studying the supernatural world and keeping mortals safe from its darkest elements. Former “Doctor Who” star Paul McGann played a member of said organisation in the “Queen of the Damned” film.

AMC Studios President Dan McDermott says the enthusiastic reception to the previous two shows “is a great sign of what is yet to come in this immersive universe”.

He adds: “The Talamasca is one of the most intriguing elements of Rice’s works and a connective thread through so many of her stories. The standalone and crossover potential for this third series is immense.” That would suggest characters from the other two series could easily crossover into this one.

Should it go forward, it would join the other two on AMC and AMC+. Both of those shows have been renewed for second seasons, with the second run of ‘Interview’ already in production in Prague and the second season of ‘Mayfair’ to film in New Orleans later this year.
